West Sussex Gurkha Free Legal Advice Service provides, free independent and confidential advice.

We provide help from a first general enquiry, through specialist help to full legal representation for those who qualify for legal aid.  Generalist advice is available to all citizens of West Sussex without a means test.  The service is free, impartial, confidential and independent.

We help people living in West Sussex.  We can help with:

Service Providers

The service is provided by the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) in West Sussex and by Shelter.  Both are charitable organisations. General advice is provided by highly trained CAB volunteers. Specialist advice is provided by a few CAB volunteers for those who do not qualify for legal aid. Specialist legal aid advice is provided by paid Shelter and CAB caseworkers and solicitors. The CAB have provided advice in West Sussex for 70 years.

Clients can access the service through the county-wide telephone number 0844 4771171 or by dropping into their local advice centre. They will be offered an initial Gateway (diagnostic) interview to assess their needs. They will be provided with information and then offered an appointment if necessary with a generalist or specialist adviser.
